Mike Tyson spent a lot of money buying a mansion just to live with his pet tiger

Legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson purchased a six-bedroom, seven-bathroom mansion in Henderson, Nevada, for $2.5 million in 2015, despite having earned over $400 million throughout his career.

The “Baddest Man on the Planet” went through a period of financial troubles, declaring bankruptcy in 2003 with $23 million in debt. Tyson splurged $300 million on mansions, vehicles, diamonds, and even pet tigers, but his current estate doesn’t boast the extravagance of a typical celebrity mansion.

Situated in the Seven Hills area, the 10,400-square-foot Italian-style home sits on nearly an acre of land. It features two casitas, one of which includes an apartment. The property offers luxurious amenities such as a video room, wine cellar, disappearing-edge pool, spa, outdoor kitchen, and a spacious covered terrace. The house is adorned with custom iron railings, arched entrances, vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, stone fireplaces, marble flooring, and a grand marble staircase.

The gourmet kitchen is equipped with Thermador stainless steel appliances, a large island with a breakfast bar, and custom cabinetry. While Tyson’s mansion is impressive by American standards, it falls short of the average celebrity mansion price of $20 million.

In recent news, Tyson found himself involved in an altercation on a flight to Florida. A video captured Tyson punching an aggressive passenger who had been harassing him and threw a water bottle at him during the flight. Tyson, who was traveling to a cannabis conference after-party, stated that the incident occurred when he was seated and defending himself. The San Francisco police detained two suspects, and one person suffered minor injuries.
