John Lennon ’s son has been on the receiving end of cruel death threats after he mocked Prince Harry ’s memoir.

48-year-old Sean Ono Lennon – who is the son of the late Beatle and artist Yoko Ono – has revealed he has faced a number of shocking death threats after he jokingly said that the Duke of Sussex should rename his bombshell memoir, ‘Spare Me’ and described the Prince as a “buffoon”.

Taking to X on Tuesday morning, Sean – who is a country musician – wrote: “I’ve had 3-4 death threats since making fun of Harry’s book title and then later saying it was justified because he’s an idiot and that he and I both deserve to be mocked. Yay internet.”

John was only 40 years old when he was shot and killed outside his New York apartment by longtime Beatles fan Mark David Chapman. The now-deleted comment read: “Mark David Chapman should’ve dealt with your father before he had a chance to p*** you out of his womb.”

In his initial tweet last Wednesday, Sean had jokingly mocked Harry with a brutal two-word swipe. He wrote: “My long awaited review of Prince Harry’s autobiography is two words: ‘Spare Me’.” Replying to X users who commented on his post, Sean also described Harry as a “buffoon” and added: “We met once. That was before I realised he was an idiot.”

Replying to one person who said they were surprised Sean could not sympathise with the Duke, he wrote: “I do empathize with him generally. But the way he whines and wangs on about things is really too much. I’m just having a little fun. I think he’s earned some mockery. (I’m sure I have as well).”

This is not the first time that Sean has criticised Prince Harry’s bestseller. Shortly after its release in January last year, he wrote: “When Harry’s editor read the sentence ‘My penis was oscillating between extremely sensitive, and borderline traumatized,’ did they not want to stage an intervention of some sort? I mean that is for sure one of the worst sentences ever written in the English language.”
