If Caitlin Clark is to take any advice from any current or former WNBA player, she might as well do so from Sue Bird.
Bird was drafted by the Seattle Storm first overall in the 2002 WNBA Draft, and is considered of the greatest players in WNBA history.
Across her Hall of Fame career, Bird won four WNBA championships (2004, 2010, 2018, 2020), five Olympic gold medals (2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020), and two NCAA Championships as a UConn Husky.

Bird was recently interviewed by AP Sports. In the interview, she suggested that fans needed to “be patient” with Clark during her rookie season in the WNBA.
The reason being that basketball is a team game, and Clark can’t solve the Fever’s losing by herself.
And because Clark isn’t surrounded by superstars, it’s easier for teams to focus their defense on her, which makes it tougher for Clark to score like she did at Iowa.
But Bird believes it’s only a matter of time before Clark breaks through.
