More than two billion people worldwide watched the royal wedding between Prince William and Princess Kate on April 29, 2011, which took place at Westminster Abbey, in London – and Meghan Markle was supposedly one of the many royal viewers.

For weeks and months before the big day, royal fans couldn’t wait to watch one of the most significant events in royal modern history, which constantly dominated global headlines, as fans of the couple flew into the UK from all over the world to be close to the action.

During the celebrated occasion, Meghan Markle, who had not yet met her future husband, Prince Harry, shared a polarising seven-word remark about the royal wedding between William and Kate on her lifestyle blog, the Tig.

Meghan wrote “just look at the pomp and circumstance” when discussing Kate’s nuptials and of her future sister-in-law.

As stated in Hello! Magazine, the former Suits actress penned a blog post on “the endless conversation about Princess Kate”. The Tig was Meghan’s lifestyle blog which she promoted, focusing on food, fashion and general observations.

In her blog, Meghan recalled how “little girls dream of being princesses”. She wrote: “I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power. For those of you unfamiliar with the ‘80s cartoon reference, She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man, and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength. We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here.”

Meghan added: “Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.”

Seven years later, Meghan Markle wed Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018. However, the now Montecito-based couple chose to step down as senior working royals in 2020 for a new life in America.

An explosive, tell-all, Oprah Winfrey interview followed in 2022, with Meghan Markle stating she did not “fully understand” what the job of a royal was.

She told Oprah: “I didn’t grow up knowing much about the royal family. It wasn’t something that was part of conversation at home. It wasn’t something that we followed.”

In Meghan’s first public interview as part of the Royal Family, which was Harry and Meghan’s engagement interview with host Mishal Husain, the couple sat down together shortly after Harry proposed in November 2017.

Meghan Markle claimed the interview felt like an “orchestrated reality show” as stated in their Netflix documentary series ‘Harry & Meghan’.

The former Suits TV actress claimed she didn’t “Google” Prince Harry before they started dating, but she admitted she researched him on social media.

Although Meghan Markle’s blog the Tig is defunct, she recently launched a long-awaited lifestyle brand ‘American Riviera Orchard’ on March 14, which reportedly will produce home, garden and food content.

The timing of the announcement of Meghan’s new brand was criticised as it launched while Prince William was at the Diana Legacy Award ceremony in London. He was about to take the stage to hand out awards to participants making progress for change for future generations.
