With his mesmerizing shooting skills, NY Knicks star Jalen Brunson is outshining everyone in the playoff tournament. Although the franchise lost by 106-111 in Game 3 of the semifinal series against the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks guard unlocked a special accolade on Friday night.
Following the game, Brunson imprinted his name on NBA history as the third player to score 300+ points and 70+ assists through the first 9 games of the post-season tournament. The two other legendary figures who have achieved the feat are Michael Jordan and LeBron James. MJ did it with the Chicago Bulls in 1989, whereas LBJ did it in his last playoffs with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018, as per NBA History.
Jalen Brunson is averaging 34.6 points so far in the nine playoff games, along with 3.9 rebounds and 7.9 assists while shooting at 44.9% from the field and 32.3% from the 3-point range. The All-Star guard had an immense impact on the team and has led the NY squad even in the absence of Julius Randle.

After two straight wins against the Pacers, the Knicks finally surrendered in the third game where Brunson managed to put up 26 points but was extremely unhappy with his last-minute performance.
Jalen Brunson Chooses Self-Criticism After Game 3 Loss
Jalen Brunson expressed his disappointment in the post-game press conference when he was asked whether he liked the shot he took in the last minute.
He simply said, “Not really,” and then went on to add, “It’s just a terrible decision and something I need to learn from.” Expressing his frustration, the 27-year-old stated, “I knew the time, I knew everything that was going on. I just made a terrible decision.”

With 17.8 seconds remaining, Pacers’ Andrew Nembhard shot a 3-pointer that pushed Indiana’s score to 109-106 from a tie. Brunson wanted to answer him back after the time-out and attempted a shot from a 28-foot distance which didn’t hit the target while trying to draw contact to get a foul. Luckily for the Pacers, the referees called no foul.
Brunson didn’t have much luck with shooting and finished with 10/26 from the field and 2/6 from threes. There is still time for the NY side to prove the doubters wrong by winning the upcoming games in their pursuit of acquiring the championship trophy.
