Prince Harry might never fully reconcile with the Royal Family, including brother Prince William and father King Charles, due to ‘the damage he’s done’ in recent years, claims a royal expert
Prince Harry might struggle to ever return to the royal family, as father King Charles has a strong reason for not welcoming back his ‘prodigal son’, claims a royal expert.
In 2020, Harry stepped back from the Royal Family alongside his wife Meghan Markle, and in the years since has made explosive and controversial comments about royal life that are thought to have angered his family. While there are rumours that Harry now wants to reconcile and heal the royal rift between himself and his father and brother, it’s not without difficulty.
A royal expert has revealed that Harry needs to ‘think about the damage he’s done’ before he can expect to be welcomed back into the royal family, especially by his father.

Photographer Arthur Edwards MBE told The Sun: “I think he is the prodigal son, in my view, and he’s got to think about what he’s doing and think what damage he’s done.”
The damage refers to Harry’s comments in his Netflix series as well as in his 2023 autobiography ‘Spare’. In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex branded Queen Camilla “dangerous” and accused her of sacrificing him on her own “personal PR altar”. Edwards added: “I imagine the King’s unhappy with Harry being around people where he could learn stories and hear gossip and put it in his next book or his next podcast or next radio or TV interview and it looks like he’s well-informed.”
He added that Charles was hurt by Harry’s words about Camilla in his memoir, and that he ‘couldn’t easily forgive’ Harry for it. He continued: “I imagine the King’s had strong words with him over it.”

It has also been alleged by an expert that after the Sussexes’ many “exposés on royal life”, Prince William and King Charles “no longer trust” Harry and Meghan. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: “After the Oprah interview, the Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary and the publication of Harry’s memoir Spare, as well as the interviews he gave promoting it, the popularity of the royal family suffered and the Sussexes were considered to have gone rogue. The biggest casualty was trust. It is unsurprising that King Charles and Prince William no longer trust Harry and Meghan.”
During Harry’s recent trip to the UK at the beginning of May as he celebrated 10 years of the Invictus Games, he reportedly asked for a meeting with his father but was denied due to his father’s busy work schedule. A spokesperson said in a statement at the time, that the King was “busy” with a “full programme”. They added: “The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
