Lorraine Kelly has opened up about her daughter Rosie’s pregnancy and shared what she’ll be going by as she becomes a grandmother for the first time

Lorraine Kelly has shared some exciting baby news and revealed there is one key thing she’s going to have to be careful about avoiding.

The TV favourite could not contain her excitement at the “most exciting” to happen to her family in ages. The 64-year-old host of her eponymous ITV daytime show also gave a glimpse into her close relationship with her daughter and described the news as her “badge of honour”.

The hugely popular and veteran presenter was gushing as she talked bout about becoming a grandmother for the first time, as her daughter is expecting her first child. The TV personality’s joy over her impending grandchild has been palpable since her 29-year-old daughter publicly shared the news in April.

Expanding on her daughter’s pregnancy, Lorraine told Bella Magazine: “It’s the most exciting thing that has happened to our family in a long time. It will be really really lovely.” And she confessed that she’ll have to be careful not to “interfere too much” and ensure she’s not “too much of a nuisance”.

However, Lorraine revealed that she shares such a strong bond with her daughter that they would have no issues communicating if things were getting too intense.

She said: “I’ve just said to Rosie, ‘I’m here for you, anything you need.’ She’s good though, we’ve got that kind of relationship that if I was annoying her, she would just say ‘Enough, go home’.”

Lorraine, who is set to receive a special BAFTA for her successful daytime show, added that her daughter is “going to be the best mum” and said: “she’s much more grown-up than I am.”

When asked by the publisher what name she’ll go by in her new role, Lorraine said: “Granny. Granny Smith” which is her marital surname. She went on to say that it will be her “badge of honour and the “best title I’ve ever had in my life.”

Rosie announced her pregnancy news in a sweet Instagram post on Friday, 5 April as she showed off her blossoming baby bump, in a figure-hugging black ensemble. The mum-to-be delightedly told her followers: “We could not be more excited – you’re already so loved little one.”

She then went on to share a second image, which showed a sonogram scan of her child at 12 weeks – alongside a caption which indicated it was now the size of a fig. Not being able to contain her excitement for her daughter, Lorraine shared a sweet message as she re-posted a picture of Rosie’s scan.

“THE most exciting thing to have ever happened in our family! Cannot wait to be a granny and so proud of Rosie and her Steve. It’s the best news EVER! ” Lorraine sweetly penned.
