With future Avengers movies at stake, it seems that the MCU is not yet ready to let of of its old heroes. Having some veteran actors in their collection, Marvel Studios has allegedly told two Avengers stars to clear their schedule for Avengers 5!

After Iron Man’s sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange became the de facto leader of the Avengers. With Captain America retiring and Thor often on his adventures, Doctor Strange was the most logical choice for becoming team captain.

Surviving the events of Endgame and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is currently alive and doing well. Hence, Marvel Studios thought that this might be a good time to recall some heroes.

As per a recent tweet on X (via @DanielRPK), Marvel Studios allegedly told Benedict Cumberbatch to clear his schedule.

The tweet mentioned that Marvel Studios wants some of its actors to clear their schedules so that they could work on Avengers 5. Of the actors, Benedict Cumberbatch’s name has been often spoken. It could be true that Strange could be the main lead of the newer Avengers and may have a much more important role than other heroes.

Our Mister Doctor Strange is not the only pre-Endgame character returning to the film as another report also indicates that Chris Hemsworth is also expected to make a reentry.

With his last appearance as Thor in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, it seems that Hemsworth needs a movie to redeem the character of Thor.

Well, it cannot be confirmed (or denied) that the actors are indeed returning to the MCU. However, it could be true that they have been asked to clear their schedules. With Hemsworth starring in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and Benedict Cumberbatch portraying a role in 2 upcoming projects, it could be a very real possibility that we may get to see Thor and Doctor Strange in Avengers 5 after all.

As of now, there have been several theories as to which characters will appear in the upcoming Avengers film. It seems that Thor, Doctor Strange, Captain America (formerly Falcon), and, the Winter Soldier are the top choices (alongside some young superheroes).

Avengers 5 (previously called The Kang Dynasty) is set for a release date of 1 May 2026 in theaters across the U.S.
