The 2024 NFL season is set to kick off without Bill Belichick as the veteran head coach was let go by the New England Patriots earlier this year and failed to land a job amid the recent hiring cycle.

Following a 25-year spell in which the Pats cemented their place as a football dynasty, winning six Super Bowls, Robert Kraft chose to go in a different direction, ending Belichick’s tenure as the team’s top coach and decision-maker.

The Patriots feature in a 10-part docuseries dubbed ‘The Dynasty’ which dropped on Friday, giving fans some behind-the-scenes exposure where the team’s glory days are concerned.

NBC’s Peter King wrote about the show in his ‘Football Morning In America’ column and would also reveal how he felt Belichick angered the Kraft family.

“I think the new Patriots’ doc on Apple TV+, ‘The Dynasty,’ reveals a lot about the frayed feelings between Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, but — and I have not seen it — apparently a lot about some of the hard feelings Robert and Jonathan Kraft had for Belichick, as well,” he explained.

“Good example: Robert Kraft launched a $25 million fund to combat antisemitism in 2023. Belichick appeared at the league meetings with a blue-square pin denoting the Kraft cause — but instead of wearing the pin high on his shirt as most people would, he wore it down around his stomach. Maybe it was unintentional, but I doubt it. That’s the kind of thing that I’m sure ticked off the Krafts.”

Cracks appeared in the relationship between Belichick and Kraft when the HC tried moving on from Tom Brady.

Of course, winning solves most things so it was enough to paper them. However, once Brady departed and the wins stopped coming, especially given that he won a Super Bowl the next year, it was only going to be a matter of time before the coach was let go.
