The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly interviewing three major names for their defensive coordinator vacancy that officially opened up four days ago.

According to David Moore of The Dallas Morning News, Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde and former NFL head coaches Ron Rivera and Mike Zimmer are slated to interview for the club’s defensive coordinator vacancy.

The Cowboys’ defensive coordinator position opened up after Dan Quinn accepted the Washington Commanders’ head coaching job last week. Quinn was brought in as the new DC in 2021, and the Cowboys’ defense finished top-10 in each of his three years on the job.

Durde has been on the Cowboys’ staff since the 2021 season. Rivera spent the previous four years as Washington’s head coach before getting let go last month. Zimmer, a Cowboys assistant coach from 1994 to 2006, previously coached the Minnesota Vikings from 2014 to 2021.

Dallas finished 12-5 for the third straight year, but their season ended with an ugly 48-32 home loss to the seventh-seeded Green Bay Packers on Super Wild Card Weekend. The loss dropped Dak Prescott to 2-5 in the postseason for his career, and coach McCarthy to 1-3 in the playoffs as the Dallas head coach.
