The Dallas Cowboys have lost yet another one of their top assistant coaches to an NFC rival.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Seattle Seahawks are set to hire Dallas defensive line coach Aden Durde as their new defensive coordinator. Durde held that position for the Cowboys since 2021.

Durde will join the new-look Seahawks coaching staff headlined by first-year head coach Mike Macdonald, who landed the job after a successful two-year run as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator.

The Cowboys already lost defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who left to take the Washington Commanders’ head coaching job. Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was hired as the new DC under Mike McCarthy.

The 44-year-old Durde began his coaching career back in 2018, spending two seasons at the Atlanta Falcons’ defensive quality control coach. In 2020, he was promoted to the outside linebackers coaching role.

Durde will oversee a Seattle defense that ranked 25th in scoring (23.6 points allowed per game), 30th in yards allowed and 31st against the run. Clint Hurtt, the Seahawks’ DC from 2022 to 2023, left the organization for the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive line coaching role.
