The NFL is headed to Spain in 2025 for the first regular-season game ever in that country.

The game will take place in 2025 and would be the second new international locale to host an NFL game in as many seasons.

 

The league announced Friday the 2025 season will feature a game at Real Madrid’s iconic Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
“We could not be more excited to bring the best of the NFL, the best of our teams and star players to the more than 13 million passionate fans in Spain and partner with one of the greatest global soccer clubs in Real Madrid in a truly world class and innovative stadium,” said Peter O’Reilly, the NFL’s head of international affairs.
The NFL has not yet announced which teams will play in the game, but it seems clear which teams that might be.

The two teams that are likely to play are the Miami Dolphins and Chicago Bears. The Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins have commercial rights in Spain through the NFL’s Global Markets Program. The Dolphins are the only team with commercial rights in Brazil.

The NFL also announced that it would have eight international games annually starting in 2025. Spain will be the fifth different country to be part of the NFL International Games, joining the United Kingdom, Mexico, Germany, and Brazil.

Games in England, Germany, and Mexico City have been mainstays in the league’s international series, and the additions of contests in Brazil and Spain only add to the excitement.

Commissioner Roger Goodell is simply adding to his stout legacy.
