The Washington Commanders are releasing a veteran pass-catcher ahead of the 2024 season.

The team is heading towards a rebuild under their new ownership, and they’re likely to draft a new quarterback as they look to build on the 4-13 record from last season. As such, Washington remains keen on freeing up as much money as possible, which exposes several members of their roster to the axe.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the NFC side is cutting tight end Logan Thomas. The news dropped shortly after it was revealed that offensive tackle Charles Leno had been informed he was being let go.

Thomas has been in Washington for the past four seasons. He made 72 receptions in his first season but only made six appearances in 2021 as he dealt with a knee injury.

He played 30 games over the past two seasons and recorded 184 catches for 1,685 yards and 14 touchdowns over his four-year span with the team.

The Commanders will free up $6.5 million in cap space as a result of this move.
