USC quarterback Caleb Williams is widely expected to go number one overall in the 2024 NFL Draft and be selected by the Chicago Bears.

There have been many rumors suggesting that Williams does not want to go to the Bears for various reasons, one of them not wanting to push Justin Fields to the side and the other being him not wanting to play for a franchise that is more known for losing than winning.

Williams suggested Tuesday that he has no issues with the Chicago Bears potentially selecting him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Speaking to ESPN’s Pete Thamel over the phone, Williams discussed the possibility of going first overall to the Bears:
“If I get drafted by the Bears, I’ll be excited. If they trade the pick, and I get drafted by someone else, I’m just as excited. Speaking about Chicago, they have a talented team, a talented offense and defense. For anyone to be in that situation, I think they’d be excited.”

“I’m not pushing any agenda,” Williams continued. “At the end of the day, the Bears have the last say. Regardless of how I feel, I’m not pushing an agenda of, ‘Yeah, I want to go. Or no, I don’t want to go.’ I’m excited for whatever comes.”

Asked what he’s looking for in an NFL organization, Williams said:
“Just the constant growth and change, that’s important whether you are a quarterback or wide receiver or a general manager or an owner or an organization,” Williams told Thamel. “Just a healthy situation — in the facility, with the players — and just a place that really wants to win.”
It is still very possible that the Bears will once again trade the number one pick and ride with Justin Fields, but not many experts truly believe they will turn down the chance to take Caleb Williams.

Williams, who won the 2022 Heisman Trophy at USC, has long been considered the top prospect in the 2024 NFL draft.

Fields has gone just 10-28 in 38 starts over his first three NFL seasons. Last year, he made major strides as he completed a career-best 61.4 percent of his passes for a career-high 2,562 yards, He also threw 16 touchdown passes and a career-low nine interceptions in 13 games.

He was good with his feet as well as he rushed for 657 yards and four touchdowns last season on the heels of rushing for 1,143 yards and eight scores in 2022.
