Nigel Farage was confronted by Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley on live TV. And the tension was palpable.

Nigel Farage and Charlotte Hawkins locked horns on Good Morning Britain and the politician seemed ready to cut his interview short.

The former leader of the UK Independence Party is the target of backlash after claiming that UK Muslim citizens did not share British values during his first interview ahead of the general election with Trevor Phillips on Sky News’ Sunday Morning.

As the storm continues to grow, Nigel Farage chatted to Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins during a live video interview this Tuesday, May 28. But when the latter pressed him on his claims and he immediately cut her short.

Charlotte kicked off the conversation around the scandal by saying: “you’re talking about these things without actually coming up with the solutions for them.” Before reminding him of his exact words.

This was enough to make Nigel Farage fume as he frantically waved his arm in front of the camera while repeatedly crying out “no”, seemingly ready to stop the exchange.

“I’m sorry, no, no, no, no. I’m hot having this! I’m not having this”, he firmly added before attempting to set the record straight: “I’m not saying Muslims in the UK do not share British values, that would be a moronic thing to say.

“I’m talking about a minority but a growing minority of predominantly very young people in the British Muslim community”, Nigel Farage continued. While the conversation was able to continue without any more mishaps, viewers at home were incandescent with rage and swarmed over to X to share their frustrations, many of them even deemed the interview “a car crash.”

“God, this interview’s an utter car crash”, one wrote. Another echoed with a plea: “Get Farage off our screens. He is a parasite.” A third agreed with another brutal statement: “GMB interview with Farage = absolute car crash.”

A fourth chimed in: “He’s talking about bigotry towards certain people, while being openly bigoted without consequence. As he does day in day out. Keeps his job, keeps his money, keeps his platform.” Another lamented: “we really don’t need to see Nigel Farage on our TV screens anymore.” One agreed: “WTF is Nigel Farage given air time? He lied about leaving the EU and also stirs up racial hatred.”

One ITV viewer raged: “Nigel Farage has done the impossible. He’s got me believe Richard Madeley is actually good at interviewing and made Nigel Farage look stupid in this interview!” Elsewhere, one quipped: “Looks like Poundland Trump Nigel Farage had a tough time defending his Islamophobic views on.”

Another surprisingly struck out at Charlotte Hawkins: “Appallingly aggressive interview style from Charlotte on Good Morning Britain”, they wrote. While another demanded: “If you are going to have Farage on, could you broadcast an immediate fact check afterwards.”
