The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, recently embarked on a trip to Nigeria, with their 72-hour whistle-stop tour giving the world a glimpse into what their lives as royals would have been

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent trip to Nigeria gave the world a glimpse into what their lives as fully-fledged Royal Family members could have been like.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shocked the world in 2020 when they announced they would be stepping down from their roles as senior working royals. At the time, they shared a statement which read: “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

Soon after their announcement, the couple decided to up sticks and move to America. Harry and Meghan have resided in Montecito, California since the summer of 2020, with the pair living in a lavish mansion with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR told The Mirror: “Harry and Meghan’s visit to Nigeria resembled one of their past royal tours, serving as a reflection on what their life could have been like if they had remained in the royal family.

“They really shine when they are on tour. The couple resonated well with the people of Nigeria, from taking part in a volleyball game to visiting local schools to promote mental health awareness, their images made headlines around the world.”

She noted that the couple is celebrated in Nigeria, and added that this “will have strengthened their confidence for future tours”.

This comes amid reports that Harry and Meghan would like to visit another country after basking in the success of their Nigerian tour. A source recently told us that Ghana is in the Sussexes’ sights, revealing: “There is already a lot of talk and excitement in Ghana, everyone is so keen for Harry and Meghan to come and experience the great culture and warmth.”
