Isn’t it fascinating how an actor must sometimes keep a secret even closer than the most valuable Avengers’ information? Well, Marquand himself revealed the challenges of maintaining the clandestine nature of his roles, quipping, “I can’t afford to get sued” when asked about the difficulties of keeping his involvement under wraps.

Marquand recently spoke with ComicBook.com’s Phaze Zero podcast, and he revealed how he kept details about his roles a secret to avoid spoilers for audiences:

“It’s the hardest secret I have ever had to keep. I have kept that for almost two years longer than Red Skull or Ultron so this is like I have been chomping at the bit to tell people and I am just so grateful it’s out.”

Subsequently, host Brandon Davis tried to reminisce a little bit about a conversation he had with Marquand, most likely in 2017. During that conversation, the actor disclosed that he wanted to share information about the role but was unable to. Davis tried to elucidate by asking if Marquand was talking about the X-Men ’97 role. Marquand clarified, however, that it was about Red Skull.

The actor, who portrayed Red Skull in the films Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame in 2018 and 2019, talked about his experience filming the character’s scenes in a single day.
