Whatcha Say singer Jason Derulo shared his thoughts on the P Diddy allegations after reporters asked for his opinion in New York

Jason Derulo was asked about accusations linking former collaborator P Diddy to sex trafficking allegations.

The Whatcha Say singer, 34, was helped by Diddy – real name Sean Combs – to break into the music industry and seemingly offered the star his support with his comments.

Derulo was spotted walking in New York City on Tuesday and was asked by reporters for his opinion on the Diddy case. While posing for photographs with fans, Derulo was asked if people should be “giving Diddy some grace”.

A reporter for TMZ asked Derulo before he got in his vehicle: “I know that you worked with Diddy and he’s helped your career a lot. Do you think that people should be giving him some grace, or at least giving him the grace in saying he is innocent until proven guilty?”

Stopping for a moment, Derulo responded: “Um, I believe in that. I believe in innocent until proven guilty, sure.”

Assistants for Derulo then swiftly ushered him into his vehicle, stopping any further questions as the reporter was heard asking a follow-up on whether the singer thought people were “being too hard” on the Bad Boy Records founder.

The questioning comes after Diddy’s properties were raided last month. Department of Homeland Security raided the rapper’s Los Angeles and Miami homes. The raids were reportedly in connection to a sex trafficking investigation, with a Homeland Security representative releasing a statement to The Mirror at the time which read: “Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners. We will provide further information as it becomes available.”

Diddy’s lawyer Aaron Dyer responded with his own statement reading: “Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences. There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated.”

The lawyer added: “This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits. There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”

At the LA home, Christian and Justin Combs were detained, but Diddy insists that his sons nor himself have been arrested. Following what Diddy’s lawyer claimed to be a “gross overuse of military-level force,” one of Diddy’s sons lawyered up, tapping Jeffrey Lichtman as his attorney.
