Unsurprisingly, Joe Flacco’s preference is to reportedly stay right where he is.

Flacco won Comeback Player of the Year honors after leading the Browns to the postseason following a season-ending shoulder injury to starting QB Deshaun Watson. And if the Super Bowl 47 MVP gets his wish, he’ll get another year in “The Land.”

According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Flacco’s preference is to remain with the Browns for 2024. Florio added that the two sides even spoke at the NFL Scouting Combine last week:

“Last year, quarterback Joe Flacco signed with the Browns on November 20. This year, he’s hoping it happens a lot sooner than that.

The 2023 NFL comeback player of the year wants to go back to Cleveland, for another year.

Per a league source, a reunion with the Browns is Flacco’s first choice. He loves playing there — the team, the city, the fans, everything. The two sides met regarding the possibility last week, at the Scouting Combine.”

Realistically, Flacco isn’t going to be signed by any of the 32 teams with expectations that he’ll be their starting QB. But he is definitely one of the best QB2 options right now, and the Browns have good reason to keep the 39-year-old around for another year.

Flacco needed little time to familiarize himself in Kevin Stefanski’s offense, completing 60.3 percent of pass attempts for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He won four of five regular season starts to help the Browns in the postseason, though they were eliminated by C.J. Stroud’s Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round.

Watson will be Cleveland’s starting QB come Week 1, but Flacco would serve as ample insurance in case the former struggles or gets injured again.

For his career, the former Baltimore Ravens starter and 2008 first-round pick has a 103-82-0 record, a 61.6 completion percentage and 43,936 passing yards for 245 touchdowns and 155 interceptions.
