Jimmy Butler has finally broken his silence on the rumors claiming he’s dating pop sensation Shakira.

Butler, who left NBA fans in stitches this week after showing up to Media Day with a very Emo look, has been the subject of speculation for a few months now given Shakira’s appearances during the Miami Heat’s incredible playoff run, as well as the fact that she’s now living in Miami.

 


Shakira split from longtime partner Gerard Pique last June, so it was believed that she was on the market. Rumors of her hooking up with Jimmy sprouted during the playoffs but, with a new NBA season quickly approaching, the player has rubbished them in an interview with Rolling Stone.

“She’s an incredible human being and an incredible talent, but you never know what people are doing so people just make stuff up. Just because we are friends, she lives in Miami, and her sons are big basketball fans — that doesn’t mean anybody’s dating,” Butler explained.

“Just because people hang out doesn’t mean anybody’s dating. But it gives everybody something to talk about, so y’all take it and y’all run with it. She’s very, very cool and that’s all I got!”

Disappointing stuff, though it hardly means possibilities are nonexistent. Butler wasn’t able to land Damian Lillard as a teammate, and we’re willing to bet he’d get over that pretty quickly by dating Shakira.
