Football fans are going crazy after a top CBS executive jokingly shared the “script” for Super Bowl 58 between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

If you’re a diehard football fan and frequent user of social media, you’ve certainly seen countless conspiracy theories and jokes about the Super Bowl being “rigged” or “scripted.” Who can forget the Super Bowl logo conspiracy that was debunked with the Baltimore Ravens falling to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game?

Well, CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus decided to have some fun with it by joking that the NFL informed CBS (the network that will air Super Bowl 58) has already “scripted” a double overtime finish for the big game, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

As you would expect, social media was full of hysterical reactions:

Incredibly, there has only been one instance of overtime in 57 years of the Super Bowl…and it came just seven years ago. In Super Bowl 51, the New England Patriots erased a 28-3 deficit against the Atlanta Falcons and walked it off with a James White rushing score in overtime.

The Chiefs are aiming to become the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots. As for the 49ers, a victory would secure the franchise a sixth Super Bowl championship that would place them in a three-way tie with the Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers for most in history.
