Nigel Havers lands This Morning role as ITV bosses eye him up for more shows

Actor and presenter Nigel Havers is set to take on a new role for ITV This Morning as he fronts a two-part travel special in the hopes of snapping up more globe-trotting adventures

Nigel Havers shows he’s a fan of ranch dressing as he swaps his usual smart look for a cowboy hat and boots.

The actor is fronting a two-part travel special for ITV ’s This Morning – and on Wednesday, viewers will see the 72-year-old head to Nashville, USA. While he is in ‘Music City’, Nigel visits the venues that have hosted the world ’s biggest country music stars, tries Nashville’s famous hot chicken and samples some Tennessee whiskey.

A source close to the show said: “This was something a little different for Nigel and he adored this trip and meeting the locals. He made no secret in saying it was his favourite place in America and cannot wait to share his experience with viewers.” If ‘Nigel in Nashville’ goes down well, ITV bosses are keen to line the star up for more globe-trotting.

Nigel, who was nominated for a BAFTA for 1981 movie Chariots of Fire, first appeared on This Morning in 2018. He won viewers over by flirting with then-host Holly Willoughby and went on to co-present the show with Lisa Snowdon when they filled in for Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes.

A source added: “Viewers love Nigel and always enjoy their fix of him.” We revealed earlier this year how This Morning bosses had also snapped up Annabel Croft for a travel segment. Last month, the former tennis player turned TV presenter, 57, explored North Yorkshire in her trusty campervan ‘Vannabel’.

The series was extra special for Annabel as her and husband Mel Coleman, had enjoyed exploring the UK in the vehicle together. He died last year aged 60 just 16 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer. Annabel said: “A few years ago, my late husband Mel and I, converted an old delivery van with the idea of exploring the best of Britain together. Life doesn’t always work out the way you plan and although I have some wonderful memories of us in Vannabel, I want to continue what we started and spend more time discovering Britain.

“Strap yourselves in because we are going off-grid from coastlines to countryside, so pitch up with Vannabel and I for our journey of discovery.” Annabel signed up for Strictly Come Dancing in 2023, where she was paired with Joahnnes Radede and praised the BBC show for providing a welcome distraction from mourning. Her new series came as Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley achieved their best audience reach of the year so far on This Morning with 4.5million viewers across the week. Viewing figures for January – March 2024 were also up 5% compared to 2023. They were announced as new hosts of the ITV daytime show following Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby’s exits from the programme.
