Prince Harry will not be meeting King Charles while he is back in the UK this week, his spokesperson has confirmed.

They said in a statement: “It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

The Duke of Sussex arrived in the UK earlier today – without his wife or children – as he will be attending a number of Invictus Games events.

It marks his first time back on home soil since he rushed back to the UK to see his father following his cancer diagnosis at the start of February.

Harry had been hoping to meet with his father again this week, but as the King has returned to public-facing duties his diary of engagements has significantly increased.

Charles is expected to attend a Buckingham Palace Garden Party tomorrow – the first of the season.

It comes as a source told the Daily Express that the King told Prince Harry that if they meet the Queen must be present.

“There hasn’t been a meeting of minds just yet about whether there will be time to meet on the 8th,” the source said. “Aides are adamant that if a meeting were to go ahead tomorrow at Buckingham Palace, the Queen will also be present which might prove a bone of contention.”

Meanwhile the Duke will be heading to St Paul’s Cathedral for a thanksgiving service to celebrate a decade of the Invictus Games.

Harry launched the Invictus Games, a sport event for military personnel wounded in action, in 2014 and is due to give a reading at the thanksgiving service at St Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow. Actor Damian Lewis will also be in attendance to recite a poem.

The ceremony will mark “a decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport,” a spokesperson for the Games said.
