According to an expert, Prince Harry ‘feels he should have been an usher at an old pal’s wedding but his brother Prince William takes precedence’, which comes ahead of Hugh Grosvenor’s wedding day

Prince Harry “felt he should have been usher at old friend’s wedding but William takes precedence”, it has been claimed by an expert.

Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, is a close friend of both Prince Harry and his brother William, with his wedding due to take place in a matter of days. Hugh’s wedding to Olivia Henson will take place in June at Chester Cathedral.

It was previously reported that the Duke of Sussex turned down a “save the date” to the Duke of Westminster’s wedding to avoid an “awkward” encounter with family members he is no longer on good terms with who are due to attend.

Prince Harry and Prince William are both pals with Hugh Grosvenor

He added: “Harry felt he should have been invited to be an usher, but once again his brother takes precedence.”

This comes after a source told Express that Harry was “triggered” to decline the invitation when he got word about William taking on a big role at the wedding. The source told the paper: “William was asked to take up a leading role in the wedding and that’s what triggered Harry to decline an invitation. It was the final nail in the coffin.”

The anonymous source went on to add: “Harry was very close to Hugh growing up so everyone thought it would have been him taking up a leading role, not William.”

But as per several reports, Harry is thought to have “snubbed” the event long before William’s role as an usher at the wedding was widely known. Speaking to Page Six a few months ago, a source said: “Harry actually got a ‘save the date’ card a few months ago but called Hugh and said it would be too awkward if he and Meghan Markle attended, so he made his apologies and Hugh understood.”
