The NFL may have some explaining to do… And possibly even some investigating to do as well.

According to a report that’s sparking plenty of online debates, former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy apparently met with his ex-team’s offense prior to their AFC Title victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

The NFL Network’s James Palmer provided some in-depth details, saying Bieniemy went to the Chiefs’ hotel the night before their Conference Championship game. While there, he met with the offensive players to go over an “old play” with the team.

Although this may seem like nothing, it becomes interesting when you consider the fact that Bieniemy was the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders this past season. And at the time of the AFC championship game, there was no word that he had been relieved of his duties.

In fact, it wasn’t until this week, during the introductory press conference for new Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, that we learned Bieniemy was no longer a part of the Washington organization.

So… if Bieniemy was still a part of the Commanders organization at the time of his meeting with the Chiefs, wouldn’t that be tampering on KC’s part? That’s what many on social media seemed to think:

What we don’t know for sure is exactly when the Commanders parted ways with Bieniemy. The NFL may want to look into this situation, however, as it could emerge as a huge talking-point as we get closer to Sunday’s big game — especially if the Chiefs decide to bring in Eric for another pregame pep-talk this weekend.
