Bo Jackson has won a $21 million lawsuit against two members of his family.

According to AL.com, the former Raiders star has been awarded the sum mentioned above by an Atlanta court on the back of a civil suit alleging an attempt to extort by his niece and nephew.

 

The suit, filed last April, accused Thomas Lee Anderson and Erice M. Anderson of “relentless harassment and intimidation” as they tried to wrest $20 million from him in exchange for their silence given claims of having information that would have been very damaging.

AL.com notes:

According to the lawsuit filed by Jackson through his Marietta, Ga., attorneys, the Andersons — one of whom lives in Cobb County and the other in Texas — attempted to extort $20 million from Jackson in exchange for not publicly disclosing information that would cast him “in a false light” and cause “severe emotional distress.”

 

The former NFL and MLB star was awarded over $1 million in compensatory damages and lawyer’s fees, as well as $20 million for punitive damages.

Jackson also filed for a protective order which has since been granted. As a result, the Andersons are barred from coming within 500 feet of Jackson and his immediate family and cannot contact any of them. They are also prohibited from posting anything about Jackson on social media and have been ordered to take down any content referring to their uncle.
