Justin Jefferson, the top wide receiver in the NFL, is dead set on signing a long-term deal with the Minnesota Vikings until he gets some clarification.

Superstar receiver Justin Jefferson, who made the news that he wanted to “break the bank” when he signs a looming contract extension, is demanding to know what the Vikings plan on doing with the quarterback situation before he commits to them.

NFL Network reported that Jefferson is a fan of quarterback Kirk Cousins and “will want to know the quarterback plan before signing on for the long haul.”

The Vikings are hoping to re-sign Cousins, according to the report, but the 36-year-old finds himself in heavy demand despite coming off a season-ending torn Achilles tendon.

The Vikings have Jefferson under contract for one more year after this season, thanks to the obvious decision to pick up his fifth-year option.

The team could theoretically keep him another season or two after that with the franchise tag, but locking him down long-term will not be cheap.

Jefferson led the NFL in receptions (128) and receiving yards (1,809) in 2022, which was his third straight season topping 1,400 yards since debuting for the Vikings in 2020.

Jefferson, the 2022 NFL offensive player of the year, finished with 1,074 yards in 2023 despite missing seven games and parts of two others.

It’ll truly be a pivotal offseason for the Vikings.
