The New York Giants are reportedly considering making a blockbuster trade that would completely shake up this year’s NFL Draft.

During his appearance on SportsCenter (h/t Daniel Bates of The Spun), Giants ESPN reporter Jordan Raanan reported that Brian Daboll and company are open to using the No. 6 selection on a quarterback.

Not only that, but with a pair of second-round picks, Raanan stated that they could even look to trade back late into round one. New York owns the No. 39 pick as well as the No. 47 selection, courtesy of the Seattle Seahawks from the Leonard Williams trade.

Here’s what Raanan said:
“The Giants have the No. 6 overall pick and two second-rounders…They can use those to potentially look at a quarterback. I’ve been told by multiple sources that the Giants — if the situation presents itself correctly — the Giants would be at least ‘seriously willing’ to look at the quarterback position…So what happens over the next few weeks, next few months that will strongly dictate what the Giants do either at the top of the first round, or with those two second-round picks, potentially trading back in to the end of the first round.”

Last year, the Giants handed quarterback Daniel Jones a four-year extension worth $160 million following a career year. Jones lost five of his six starts and had two touchdowns against six interceptions before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

USC’s Caleb Williams, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and LSU’s Jayden Daniels are the consensus top three quarterback prospects in this year’s draft. Chances are low that either of them will be available to the Giants at No. 6, but perhaps the front office is high on a second-tier QB prospect like Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy or Oregon’s Bo Nix.

The Giants are coming off a disappointing 6-11 season, marking their sixth losing campaign in the last seven years.
