The New York Giants have decided that they want to move on at quarterback this offseason, according to a popular sports personality.

Speaking on the latest edition of his show, Rich Eisen reported that the New York Giants are finished with quarterback Daniel Jones. The 2019 first-round pick signed a four-year, $160 million extension last year.

“Number three of my top five rumors I heard at the combine is that the Giants are absolutely done with Daniel Jones. Done…they feel that ain’t it….the words I heard at the combine…two words were…’Buyer’s remorse’.”

Eisen did emphasize that the Giants may still have to end up playing Jones this upcoming season anyway. The structure of Jones’ contract means the Giants wouldn’t be able to realistically cut him until next offseason.

But this is especially noteworthy because the Giants have the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and it was recently reported that they’re interested in trading up for a quarterback. If they’re truly done with Jones, then GM Joe Schoen will surely be extra motivated to try and come out of this draft with a QB.

Jones was given the lucrative extension after a career year in 2022, having led New York to nine wins and an unlikely playoff appearance. But he got off to a tough start in 2023, losing five of six starts before suffering a season-ending ACL tear.

Through his first five NFL seasons, Jones has gone 22-36-1 with 12,512 passing yards, 62 touchdowns and 40 interceptions. So it’s not surprising that the Giants are seemingly preparing to part ways with the 26-year-old this offseason.
