Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Queen and a top AFC team reportedly have mutual interest as free agency looms.

The 2024 NFL free agent period officially begins next Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. EST. At this time, it looks like the 2020 first-round pick will test free agency for the first time in his career after earning his first career Pro Bowl nod.

According to a report from ESPN’s D.J. Bien-Aime, Queen and the Houston Texans have mutual “interest.” Bien-Aime noted that the Texans may not be willing to meet the asking price of standout linebacker Blake Cashman:

“Houston would like to keep linebacker Blake Cashman, who led the team in tackles (106) last season, but his cost could be more than what the Texans are willing to spend — especially if no deal is in place before the negotiating period opens. Houston could focus on Ravens free agent linebacker Patrick Queen, who played with Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. at LSU. Queen was second-team All-Pro last season, and there’s some interest between the two parties, per a source. Cashman comes in at No. 59, while Queen ranks No. 25.”

The Texans have just over $70 million in cap space heading into free agency, according to OvertheCap.com. Coming off a surprise AFC South division-title winning season, GM Nick Caserio has a golden opportunity to build this roster into a bonafide Super Bowl contender in 2024.

The 24-year-old Queen had three inconsistent seasons to begin his career, prompting the Ravens to decline the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.

That obviously worked out just fine for Queen, who’s about to cash in after a career year that saw him record one interception, six pass defenses, one forced fumble, 3.5 sacks and 133 combined tackles.

For his career, the former LSU standout has recorded four interceptions, 15 pass defenses, five forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, 13.5 sacks and 454 combined tackles.
