Bill Vinovich got appointed to officiate the Super Bowl LVIII as the Kansas City Chiefs go against the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

He was also in charge of running things for Super Bowl 54, when the Chiefs beat the 49ers. And he was the referee for the infamous NFC title game in January 2019, when the Rams basically got gifted a Super Bowl appearance over the Saints with the help of a no-call on an obvious foul by Los Angeles cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman against New Orleans receiver Tommylee Lewis.

 

Most people would think that a ref like Vinovich only works for six months with the league out of the year, but that is not the case.

Per an ESPN feature in 2015, he’s a certified public accountant (CPA) when he’s not refereeing NFL or college hoops games.

That is truly amazing.

Aside from Bill Vinovich, Sunday’s other officials are umpire Terry Killens, down judge Patrick Holt, line judge Mark Perlman, field judge Tom Hill, side judge Allen Baynes, back judge Brad Freeman and replay official Mike Chase.

Killens is most notable since he is best remembered as the one who made one tackle on special teams for Tennessee in Super Bowl 34. He is the first person to play in one Super Bowl and officiate in another.
