Best man Prince William “nearly floored” partygoers six years ago when he pulled a prank on his brother Prince Harry at the royal wedding reception following his nuptials to Meghan Markle.
William, who was 35 at the time, is said to have carried out the mischievous act as his brother and his new wife Meghan left the star-studded ‘after-party’ at Windsor’s Frogmore House – prior to the royal rift. Poking fun at a fall his sibling had from a ladder while changing a lightbulb not long before the wedding, William tied a ladder to the back of the newlyweds’ car, according to the guest.
And in the process, he almost “floored” a few people. Recalling the prank a day after the reception, the insider said at the time: “Harry and Meghan went about midnight, shattered and madly in love.”

They added: “Apparently Harry fell off a ladder recently while changing a light bulb for Meghan and hurt his arm. So Wills tied a ladder to the back of the car, which nearly floored a few people.”
Guests at the later reception included David and Victoria Beckham, tennis star Serena Williams, James Corden, Idris Elba, and George and Amal Clooney. Actress Priyanka Chopra was also in attendance.
Groom Harry was said to have requested a Tiki-themed bar for the wild ‘after-party’, attended by 200 of the newlyweds’ closest friends and family. There was reportedly a ‘carnival atmosphere’ in the 230-year-old venue, with the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex partying into the small hours.
Guests feasted on ‘dirty burgers’ and enjoyed drinks-of-the-world themed cocktails – including one named ‘When Harry Met Meghan’, a play on the hit romantic comedy ‘When Harry Met Sally’. The drink featured rum and ginger, the latter a nod to Harry’s famous red hair. And comedian Corden reportedly acted as a compère for the evening.
Guests were treated to a sit-down dinner, paid for by William and Harry’s dad, Princes Charles, which ran from 7.30pm until roughly 10pm. The then-Prince of Wales, Charles, made a speech which had guests “laughing and crying”- including a gag about changing Harry’s nappy.
There was later a spectacular fireworks display. A guest at the wedding told the Mail: “Charles spoke about feeding Harry a bottle and changing his nappy, and then said look how well he turned out. That’s about as embarrassing as it got.”
